5-2 Prime Factorizations
Students should be able to:
Define prime and composite numbers.
Know what a factor is and list factors of a given number.
Produce a prime factorization tree of a given number.
Prime: A number that has only 2 factors, 1 and itself.
A number that is only divisible by 1 and itself.
Composite: A number that has more than 2 factors.
A number that is divisible by more than 2 numbers.
Factors: are numbers that are multiplied together to get a product.
Prime Factorization: is a set of prime numbers whose product equals the number.
Factor Tree: A method used to find the prime factorization of a number.
The Prime Numbers to 100 are: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, and 97.
