Syllabus for Art 4

Mr. Boehme

Advanced Art is a course for those students who have excelled in Art 1, 2 and 3, and would like to build a portfolio of work.  These students will be given design problems and will have to solve them using the knowledge and techniques that they have learned during the previous classes.  They will have the opportunity to work with any approved materials.

There is generally no homework for this course, as all work should be completed during class time.  If a student has an excused absence, they are expected to make arrangements to make up work.

Midterm and Final tests will be comprehensive and based on art history, terms and techniques.  The students will be advised to make notes on the backs of their drawings, so it would be advisable to keep all of them.

Grades for art projects are based on the project rubric.

The following rules are posted in the room and are made known to the students:

1.        Respect everyone.

2.        Respect everyone’s right to learn.

3.        Respect other people’s property.

4.        Respect school property.

Students are expected to clean up after themselves and to act appropriately in the art room.  Minor infractions, such as distracting behavior may receive a warning.  Next the student may be removed from class, and have to work in the hallway where the teacher can observe them from the classroom and parents may be called.  Lastly, if problems persist, the student may be removed from the classroom environment.

More serious infractions of the art rules or the rules noted in the student handbook may require immediate removal from the classroom with no warning or calls home.
