Mr. Boehme
Art 1 is an introductory art course, which covers the elements and
principles of design, and the use of basic media and related techniques.
There is generally no homework for this course, as all work should be completed during class time. If a student has an excused absence, they are expected to make arrangements to make up work. Late work will be lowered one letter grade per week.
Midterm and Final tests will be comprehensive and based on art history, terms and techniques learned during our lab time. The students will be instructed to write notes on the backs of their drawings, so it would be advisable to keep all of them.
Grades for art projects are based on the project rubric.
The following rules are posted in the room and are made known to the students:
1. Treat everyone respectfully.
2. Respect other students’ right to learn.
3. Respect other people’s property.
4. Use materials safely and responsibly.
5. Be on time and prepared to learn.
6. No food or drinks.
Students are expected to clean up after themselves and to act appropriately in the art room. Minor infractions, such as distracting behavior may receive a warning. Next the student may be removed from class, and parents may be called. Lastly, if problems persist, the student may be removed from the classroom environment and will receive a disciplinary referral.
More serious infractions of the art
rules or the rules noted in the student handbook may require immediate removal
from the classroom with no previous warning or call home.
