Annual PPHS Alumni Banquet

The 90th Annual Alumni Banquet is always held the second Saturday of June.  It will be held in the Middle School Commons.

The Alumni President for 2010 is Richard "Rick" Kinner from the class of 1969. Rick is temporarily president this year.  Letitia will be back in 2011.  Rick can be reached at KinnerRichard@aol.com.

First, there will be a tour of the High School on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2pm to 4pm.  Those of you who have not seen the building for a while - plan to start your alumni experience with this high school visit. There is some discussion going on about what to do with the oldest part of the campus - the 1926 building. There may not be much time left to see this structure and reminisce about your old days in "study hall".

Then there will be a leisurely drive to Farmingdale. Plan to arrive around 4:30. We are working with the Foundation to host a pre-banquet reception from 4:30 to 6:00. During this time, you can learn about the Foundation, chat with your old classmates, and enjoy refreshments. Place cards will be provided, so once you have selected your seat you can feel free to move around and visit with your friends without fear of losing your spot at dinner.

At 6:00 we will begin serving dinner.  We have a new caterer lined up this year who promises great things.

After dinner, we have booked a fabulous comedian - Kevin Kinner - for your enjoyment. Kevin is a 2001 graduate of Pleasant Plains, with a bachelors in journalism from ISU. Kevin decided he would rather pursue a career in comedy after a brief stint as the night DJ on "WGLT-News, Blues, and all that Jazz". Kevin placed first from over 40 amateur comedians at the Jukebox Comedy Club Amateur Contest in Peoria in 2006. Since then, Kevin has performed at countless venues in Illinois and other parts of the country. You can catch his act regularly at the Funny Bone in Springfield or Bloomington, or various comedy clubs in Chicago where Kevin now lives. To see Kevin at the Funny Bone will cost you $15, but for that same $15, on June 12th you get dinner AND a show!

Normally after the entertainment and the business meeting, everyone goes home... or to the Grainery in Pleasant Plains.  This year, we decided to host an after-party at the Grainery and make it an official part of the celebration. You are welcome to just wander up to the Grainery, but for an additional $5, you can enjoy complimentary food and beverages (check the notice in the Pleasant Plains Press, or your invitation, for details).

We hope to make this the best Alumni Reunion and Banquet ever, and to have the greatest turnout ever, so mark your calendars now for Saturday, June 12, 2010.  See you there!
