College Representative Visits
Representatives from post secondary
institutions visit the high school each year to meet with prospective
students. listen to the announcements; check the counselor's bulletin
board to determine the date and time. A college Comparison worksheet
is included here (requires Adobe Acrobat
Reader).
College Prep Courses
Admission standards to most four-year
universities include the following high school core curriculum:
- 4 units of English
- 3 units of mathematics, including Algebra II or higher
- 3 units of laboratory science
- 3 units of social studies
- 2 or more units of a foreign language possible
These are general guidelines and vary from school to school.
Be sure to check the admission requirements for the schools that
interest you. In addition to the core, schools have made it clear
that they may deny admission to applicants with low ACT scores
and a low high school grade point average.
