Studio 8 is Pleasant Plains Schools’ fine arts support organization. Studio 8 attempts to promote unity between students, parents and staff regarding the fine arts in the Pleasant Plains School District. Studio 8 also secures financial aid to help promote a well-rounded fine arts program for all grade levels in the District. Fundraisers are vital to the effectiveness of Studio 8’s mission within the District. Market Day is a fundraiser like no other, providing an assortment of fundraising products. This monthly grocery program has helped Studio 8 achieve fundraising success. Volunteers are needed to assist in the distribution of order forms, receiving and processing orders and coordinating pick-up days at the Middle School. Each spring students have the opportunity to sell magazines with profits supporting Studio 8. This fundraiser earns Studio 8 a majority of its revenue. Please support your students in selling (and buying) magazines this spring. Nearly $6,000 was awarded to more than 15 Pleasant Plains students who participated in summer art camps this past summer. Camps ranged from jazz to architecture, band camp to painting. Your student has the opportunity to apply for these scholarships. Watch for more information to be released in March. Several scholarships have also been created for students who wish to pursue arts on a collegiate level. Recently, these scholarships include The John Farquhar Scholarship for students taking vocal music classes and The Jane Brownback Scholarship for students taking acting classes. Your support makes art at Pleasant Plains schools possible. Studio 8 hosts monthly meetings at 6:30 PM, the 2nd Monday of each month at the Middle School. You’re welcome to join us.
