REDBIRD CLUB

MINUTES MEETING OF JULY 12, 2006

 

ATTENDANCE:  John Marsaglia, Tori Barnes, Mary Reynolds, Traci Rundblom, Mary Sturgeon, Andrea Hergenrother, Mysti Grant, Carrie Ward, Susan O’Donnell, Ron Sturgeon, Terri Gustafson, and Jill Coy.

CALL TO ORDER:   Mary Sturgeon called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. in the Panera Bread Restaurant.

 

MINUTES:  Mary R. suggested that everyone read their copy of the minutes.  A correction was made to show that 19 TV’s had been purchased.  Tori moved to accept the minutes as corrected,  and Mary R. seconded, the vote carried.

 

REPORT OF OFFICERS:

Treasurer’s Report:    Andrea Hergenrother reported a beginning balance 5-1-06 of $15,226.37.  The ending balance 7-12-06 was $7,250.94.  She stated that we would be getting a check back for the 5th grade allocation of $427.68, due to double payment and $15.00 more had been collected for wrist bands.  Tori moved to accept the Treasurer’s report, Mary R. seconded, and the vote carried.

1st Vice President:   Mary asked Jill to be Room Parent Coordinator as part of the duties of this office.  Wish Lists for each classroom and for school needs will be available at the Open House.

 

 STANDING COMMITTEES:

          Fall Round-up:  Julie Henderson, Trena Sabo, and Carrie Ward are making plans for the event scheduled for Oct. 21 from 11-3. Will need another person to help since Julie and Trena have eighth graders this year. 

          Campbells/Box Tops:  Laura Hecht has volunteered to take care of this project. 

          Teacher/Faculty Recognition:  Need a Chairperson—Discussion regarding addition of biographical sketches of staff members in Friday’s Forecast this year—have new staff and have two new classes since we did the bio’s.  This chairman has also co-ordinated the First Day of School Breakfast, Supper during Parent Teacher Conferences, and the Valentine Lunch in the past.

          Room Parents:

Christmas Luncheon:  Mysti Grant will serve as Chairperson

Staff Appreciation Luncheon: Kim Zaubi/Cheryl McLain

Trivia Night:  Traci Rundblom

Open House:  Need a Chairperson.  Sept. 11th, 6-7:30, will serve cookies and punch.  Traci will sell wristbands, and Volunteer sheets will be collected. 

Fund Raising

              Barnes & Noble—Tori Barnes—Set up Gift Wrapping for Dec 9, 9am-10pm.  Book Fair possible dates for Sept 16 & 17 with Mr. Marsaglia doing a book reading from 12-1.

              Fannie Mae Candy Sales—Libby Speaks—Sale will be later in the year—towards end of Oct with delivery before Christmas.  All candy from last year’s sale is gone.           

              Hockey Night—Julie Henderson will be asked to Chair again. She will coordinate with Mrs. Martin for Band performance.  Advance tickets reaps more profits.

              Reminder Bands—Traci Rundblom—we have sold enough bands that we have broke even.  Will sell bands at Open House. 

          Lunchroom Coordinator—Mr. Carpenter—11:10-12:40 daily.  Will have sign up sheets with times available at the Open House.  Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles welcome.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

          Classroom Technology Plan:  Nineteen 27” TVs have been purchased.  So far, the upgrades to the computer drives for DVD’s have not been purchased.  We have about $1500.00 left for the allocation.  The District will buy the RF modulator.  We may not be purchasing all of the AV Scan Converters at this time.  The cost per room is higher than anticipated.

          Fannie Mae Sales—Sale will start later in year as discussed.

          Volunteer Sheet—Good Fifth grade response at orientation.  Sheets were sent out in registration packets.  Will have sheets available at Open House.

          Election of Officers—Officers elected were:

NEW BUSINESS:

Time Change for Meeting—Discussion arose regarding moving time for meetings to earlier in evening.  Will keep meeting in August for 6:30, since it has already been advertised.  September meeting will try it at 6:00 to see if that works.  Meetings at 9/5, 10/3, 11/7/ and 12/5.

Fall Round up Auction—Discussion of whether to have auctioneer on Friday night or during the event on Saturday.  Would like a committee of twenty members, each person getting five items for the auction.  Silent auction would be on Saturday.

Fall Round up with Studio 8 Craft Fair—Deb VonDeBur in charge of Craft Fair.

 

FACULTY REQUEST:  Mary Sturgeon suggested that if any money was allocated, please consider giving per teacher, not per team, as in the past.

PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS: 

          Mr. Marsaglia told us that the new Webmaster for the PPMS Website is Mike Ruggless.  He will have the site up next week.

ADJOURNMENT:  Jill moved to adjourn, Andrea seconded, and the vote carried.  The next meeting will be at Panera Bread on August 1st, at 6:30 pm.
