There is a lunch and breakfast program maintained in the elementary school. The lunch menus for the month are included in our monthly newsletter. The elementary school has an accounting system for the children called "Bank-A-Meal." This system works much like a checking account at the bank. Each student will have his/her own debit card (computerized P.I. N). When your child eats a school meal, the cost of the meal is deducted from his/her account. THIS IS A DEBIT, NOT A CHARGE SYSTEM. YOUR CHILD MUST HAVE MONEY IN THEIR ACCOUNT IN ORDER TO PURCHASE A MEAL. We encourage parents to deposit as much money as possible at one time because it will be easier for you and us. To help you decide how much to deposit, some examples are given in the following chart:
2 Weeks 3 Weeks 4 Weeks
Reduced Lunch ($.40) $ 4.00 $ 6.00 $ 8.00 Full Priced Lunch ($1.50) $15.00 $22.50 $30.00 Reduced Breakfast ($ .30) $ 3.00 $ 4.50 $ 6.00 Full Priced Breakfast ($ .75) $ 7.50 $11.25 $15.00 Students who bring sack lunches may NOT bring soda or pop in their lunches. Fruit juices, Kool-aid, and fruit drinks are allowed.
Student Cafeteria Account Policy
Students are to use their lunch cards when going through the lunch line. Students who have lost their cards can have another card made free of charge. There will be a $3.00 charge for each additional ticket thereafter. Students are to maintain a positive balance in their accounts. Cash or check may make payment. When the student has a zero balance, parents will be called. Students will be offered a peanut butter and jelly sandwich when their account balance is a negative $5.00. Policy complies with that set forth by the State Board of Education, Financial Outreach Department for Child Nutrition.
