School Bus Discipline Code
The student, the driver, the parent, and the building principal share the responsibility of school bus discipline. The principal and/or the assistant principal will deal with any student who does not respect the reasonable requests of the driver regarding bus discipline and safety. Any student suspended from the bus is still expected to be in school during the days of his/her suspension. The principal and/or the assistant principal according to the adopted discipline code will handle major disciplinary problems. In striving to insure fair and consistent treatment of students in relation to minor disciplinary matters involving these instructions, the following procedure is adopted by the district: (1) The first time a student is in violation of the instructions, the driver will issue a verbal warning. (2) The second violation will result in another verbal warning by the driver and a follow-up call to the parent or guardian informing them of the situation and trying to enlist their help in working out a solution to the problem. (3) The third violation will result in a written report by the driver to the building principal for appropriate disciplinary action since the driver, parent, and student apparently are unable to resolve the difficulty. A copy of the principal's action will be sent to the parent and the driver.
