Bus schedules are arranged to offer the greatest convenience to the greatest number of children consistent with routing the buses over the better roads. Route schedules are maintained insofar as weather and road conditions permit. Drivers have complete authority over students while they are being transported. Students will not be transported who refuse to obey the driver's instructions concerning safety regulations and conduct while riding. Students who ride the bus to school are expected to ride it home unless a parent calls for them or they have a note from home explaining why they are not riding home. A note from home requesting a different transportation arrangement is to be presented to the principal in the following circumstances: 1. a bus student who wants to get off his/her bus at a place other than the regular stop; 2. *a bus student who wants to ride a different bus to go home with someone else. *(Our buses are quite crowded at times. The fact that a student has a request is no guarantee that permission will be given.) If a student misses the bus at school, he/she must report to the office in order that transportation may be provided. Under no circumstances is the student to walk home. The following instructions to school bus riders are taken from the Illinois Manual for School Bus Drivers:
